WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

Three things no other self-test
on the market can claim

01
Dynamic, not static.

Most self-tests hand every player the same generic result. GamTest doesn't. Every player's response pattern across 15 statements maps to one of 284 distinct feedback variations — personalised tips, relevant resources, and CTAs the operator can tailor to their own brand and tools.

02
PGSI-anchored, operator-adapted.

The Problem Gambling Severity Index is the clinical gold standard for measuring gambling harm. GamTest is validated directly against it — corresponding to players' own experience of harm with Cronbach's α = .94 (Jonsson et al. 2017). Academic rigour, engineered for live operator environments.

10,402 participants · Nordic studies

03
Operator-grade from day one.

1-day branding setup. 20+ languages. Every device and browser. GDPR-compliant and aligned with EL, WLA and SGA standards out of the box. Anonymous mode for lightweight deployments — identified mode for operators who want test results linked to CRM, intervention engines, or in-house risk models.

Deployed in 20+ jurisdictions

WHY 284 MATTERS

Same 15 statements.
Fundamentally
different feedback

Every player is scored across five dimensions: overconsumption of money, overconsumption of time, and financial, social, and emotional consequences. Their specific combination of scores determines the feedback they see — not a generic green/yellow/red verdict, but targeted reflection prompts and CTAs the operator controls.

You, the operator, decides which tools and resources are surfaced for each risk pattern. Every recommendation, every CTA, every linked resource — fully configurable in the GamTest Back Office.

Three operator-ready use cases

USE CASE 01

Duty of Care segmentation

Use risk scores to prioritise proactive outreach. Teams working under UKGC, MGA, Spelinspektionen and emerging EU regulations use GamTest as a standardised, defensible input into their intervention workflow.

USE CASE 02

Responsible marketing & promotional suppression

Link risk profiles to CRM segments so promotional campaigns automatically suppress at-risk players. Demonstrates to regulators that marketing and RG are a single system — not two teams talking past each other.

USE CASE 03

Regulator-ready reporting and evidence

The Back Office produces the numbers regulators, compliance teams, and boards actually ask for: completion volumes, CTA performance, risk-level distribution, and user feedback. All exportable, all audit-ready.

Anonymised case

"A major Nordic operator uses their GamTest dashboard as a core input in monthly leadership reporting. Beyond completion rates, they track which RG resources are most clicked by at-risk players — informing which tools to promote, which messaging to retire, and where to invest next."

WHAT YOUR DASHBOARD ACTUALLY TELLS YOU

Insights that move from "nice to have" to "we use this every monthly review"

Every completed test feeds directly into your GamTest Back Office. What you get isn't a PDF report. It's a live, filterable dashboard showing the shape of your player base, the effectiveness of your resources, and patterns you likely didn't have visibility into before.

Hear what our customers have to say about GamTest

  • "It is appreciated by many players who want to investigate how their gambling affects them."

For us who work with responsible gambling, a player taking a “red” test is a signal that we need to investigate further, preferably by calling or chatting with the player. Self-tests are also a great source of knowledge in understanding what behaviors are more risky and linked to experiencing problems.

  • "GamTest is in our opinion one of the most advanced products on the market"

GamTest is one of very few self assessments that are based on real research. We love the ability to use GamTest for proactive interactions with our players. It’s a very convenient way for players and ourselves to get a detailed overview of their gambling habits and see areas of increased risk.

Research on GamTest

GamTest has been proven trustworthy in several large-scale scientific studies.

In a study involving 10,402 participants from four Nordic gambling sites, it was found that GamTest corresponded closely with players’ own understanding of their problems, as well as with the PGSI, a validated measure of problem gambling.

The same study also found that GamTest reliably captures five dimensions of problematic gambling: overconsumption of money and time, and monetary, social, and emotional negative consequences.

  • GamTest: Psychometric Evaluation and the Role of Emotions in an Online Self-Test for Gambling Behavior

    Abstract
Recent increases in the number of online gambling sites have made gambling more available, which may contribute to an increase in gambling problems. At the same time, online gambling provides opportunities to introduce measures intended to prevent problem gambling. GamTest is an online test of gambling behavior that provides information that can be used to give players individualized feedback and recommendations for action...

  • Further Exploration of the Psychometric Properties of GamTest: A Rasch Analysis

    Abstract
GamTest is a self-rating scale of negative consequences of gambling, included in the popular responsible gambling tool Playscan as part of an overall risk assessment and feedback feature...

  • Inviting Online Gamblers To Do A Self-test – Effect On Their Gambling Behavior and Use Of Responsible Gambling Measure

    Abstract
Self-tests are a core component in online gambling operators’ duty of care. There is limited empirical data on what factors moderate how self-tests work as a responsible gambling (RG) measure. The objective of the current study was to examine the effectiveness of self-test as an RG measure. In two separate studies, we investigated whether actively prompting gamblers through messaging led to a greater number of started and completed self-tests, compared to passive routings (Study 1); and whether being prompted to do a standard or shortened self-test influenced RG tool use and gambling activity (Study 2)…

  • Mandatory verses voluntary self-tests for new online casino customers: effect on engagement, quality, gambling behavior and use of responsible gambling measures

    Abstract:
To combat the public health concern that is problem gambling, gambling operators are increasingly being required by legislation to exercise a duty of care obligation, including the provision of Responsible Gambling (RG) tools. Self-test assessments have long been a popular RG tool implemented by many operators, yet there has been scant empirical research on self-tests, including on how the method of delivery impacts engagement, quality, and subsequent gambling behavior. The main objective of the current study was to examine if the level of voluntariness to perform a self-test moderated these key outcomes…

  • GamTest: Psychometric Evaluation in a Low-Gambling General Population

    Abstract:
Instruments that investigate different aspects of gambling activities are needed to distinguish negative consequences. Because gambling is a complex activity that occurs both offline and online, different questionnaires are necessary for screening and risk classification. GamTest, an instrument used by several gambling companies, was designed to cover different aspects of gambling: money and time spent, as well as social, financial, and emotional consequences. This study explores GamTest’s psychometric properties in a general population. A total of 2,234 Swedish respondents completed an online survey containing demographic questions, the questionnaire (GamTest), and the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI). A confirmatory factor analysis was performed and GamTest’s reliability and validity tested…
